ABOUT PRO ALLY
PRO ALLY is a trust and ESG advisory focused on the energy and extractive sectors in Africa. We help organisations create structures for enduring trust through ESG, stakeholder engagement, communications, risk intelligence and strategy.
THE ROLE
We are looking for an ESG Intelligence & Business Development Consultant who can combine technical ESG intelligence with commercial thinking. This opportunity is not a traditional ESG reporting role and not a conventional sales role. It is for someone who wants to turn ESG intelligence into business and advisory opportunities.
The role sits at the intersection of: ESG Intelligence → Advisory → Market Development → Business Development
You will identify emerging ESG and stakeholder issues, translate them into client opportunities, support proposals and pitches, and help convert intelligence into advisory engagements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ESG & Intelligence
- Conduct ESG, sustainability, stakeholder and sector research.
- Analyse ESG performance, risks, trends and benchmarks.
- Support ESG assessments, materiality assessments and trust assessments.
- Monitor developments across Africa’s energy and extractive sectors.
- Contribute to RIOS, Trust Intelligence and Risk Intelligence products.
- Develop research briefs, reports, dashboards and client insights.
Business Development
- Identify and research target clients and sectors.
- Identify ESG, trust and stakeholder challenges that create advisory opportunities.
- Develop opportunity briefs and client intelligence.
- Support prospect meetings, proposals and pitches.
- Translate ESG insights into compelling PRO ALLY propositions.
- Support thought-leadership-led lead generation.
- Maintain opportunity and pipeline intelligence.
Advisory
- Support client engagements and workshops.
- Translate evidence into practical recommendations.
- Contribute to proposals, presentations and executive reports.
- Work with the Founder, consultants and communications team to convert insights into client solutions.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
We want someone who can move comfortably between: Research → Analysis → Insight → Opportunity → Proposal → Client
You should be intellectually curious, commercially aware and comfortable engaging both data and people.
REQUIRED
- Strong ESG/sustainability, research or consulting capability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent report writing and communication.
- Strong Excel and research capability.
- Ability to identify commercial implications from technical information.
- Strong relationship-building and presentation skills.
- Interest or experience in Africa’s energy, mining or extractive sectors.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in ESG, Sustainability, Business, Economics, Finance, Environmental Studies, Development Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Engineering, Data Analytics, Energy Studies or another relevant discipline. A Master’s degree or relevant professional ESG qualification is an advantage. Equivalent professional experience and demonstrated capability will be considered.
Experience with:
GRI | ISSB | SASB | TCFD | TNFD | ESG reporting | stakeholder research | risk intelligence | data visualisation | energy/extractives | consulting | business development
The ideal person can: Understand the problem → find the evidence → identify the opportunity → build the proposition → help win the work.
SUCCESS IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS
- Build a targeted ESG intelligence and prospect database.
- Identify and qualify new ESG advisory opportunities.
- Contribute to winning proposals and pitches.
- Develop sector intelligence and client insight briefs.
- Strengthen RIOS and PRO ALLY’s Trust/ESG Intelligence offering.
- Support conversion of research-led opportunities into client engagements.
